John ONeill

 

John has extensive experience as a non-executive director, chairman and business leader including as the owner of Komosion, an award-winning boutique management consulting business specialising in Customer Experience Design and Digital Enablement in the Lifestyle (Tourism and Travel), Learning (Higher Education and VET) and Public Service sectors. 

He is a former managing director of what was then Tourism NSW (now Destination NSW) and was a non-executive director of what is now Business Events Sydney, the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse as well as regional tourism organisations representing the Snowy Mountains and the Northern Rivers. Prior to that, he was Ticketing Communications Manager for the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. 

More recently, he served as a member of a Tourism Industry Reference Panel which advised the Queensland Government on a Strategy for its Visitor Economy through to 2032, adopted jointly by the Government and Industry almost in its entirety.  

He has also served as an advisor on Digital Transformation to the National Museum of Australia and is the current Chairman of Surfing NSW, custodian of both the surf lifestyle and the pathway for NSW athletes who now compete at the Olympic Games as well as on the World Surf League’s World Championship, Challenger and Qualifying Series circuits (including in northern NSW).
