Industry, Insights and Experiences
Destination North Coast (DNC) spent time on the Barrington Coast this March, holding our Board meeting, strategy session and an industry networking event in Gloucester on 25th March, followed by site visits across the area to experience local tourism offerings the next day.
Our industry event brought together a diverse mix of tourism operators from across Gloucester and the wider Barrington Coast. The strong turnout highlighted the region’s growing strength – from its emerging agritourism and wine offering, to its rich mix of nature-based experiences, adventure activities and diverse accommodation. There was a genuine spirit of collaboration in the room, with a shared focus on continuing to grow the visitor economy and strengthen Gloucester’s reputation as an idyllic regional destination.

On the Ground: Experiencing Gloucester’s Tourism Offering
The following day, members of the DNC team, Board and Stephen Mahoney, General Manager at Destination NSW, had the opportunity to experience the region firsthand, guided by MidCoast Council. As the group travelled towards Barrington Tops National Park, the landscape itself surprised and delighted, reinforcing the natural beauty that underpins the region’s appeal.
Site visits showcased the strength of experience-led tourism development across the Barrington Coast. At Mograni Creek Estate, the group explored a thoughtfully designed property that combines a cellar door, boutique accommodation, vineyard and Wagyu cattle operation. The estate offers an authentic, intimate visitor experience while also having the capability to host larger bespoke events a strong example of how agritourism is evolving in the region.
The visit continued at The Steps Barrington and Barrington Bike Park, where the scale and quality of adventure-based tourism on offer was evident. Set within a stunning natural environment, the park features 12 mountain bike trails, a pump track, onsite accommodation and river-based activities, creating a compelling destination for both day visitors and overnight stays.

Site visits included Mograni Creek Estate and The Steps / Barrington Bike Park.
Strong Foundations for Growth
It was also encouraging to see the level of support from MidCoast Council, with a clear focus on enabling local businesses through practical support and collaboration. This alignment between industry and local government is critical to delivering sustainable tourism outcomes and unlocking the full potential of the region.
Across the visit, one thing was clear: there is strong energy, commitment and momentum across the Barrington Coast. Destination North Coast looks forward to continuing to work alongside operators, councils and partners to support the delivery of high-quality, experience-led tourism and the ongoing growth of the visitor economy.
